SUMMARY:

This four day course provides an in-depth look at the advanced features of BEA TOP END.  Students will learn about these features through both class lecture and extensive hands-on exercises.  After completing the course, students will know how to administer security for a BEA TOP END system, use Recoverable Transaction Queuing (RTQ), configure Message Sensitive Routing (MSR), configure the three different load-balancing algorithms of BEA TOP END, and tune a BEA TOP END system to achieve peak performance.

• Creating a secure system using Authentication (Kerberos), Authorization, and UNIX
• Adding and deleting users from the Authentication (Kerberos) and Authorization databases
• Defining a system which uses Recoverable Transaction Queuing (RTQ)
• Administering a system which uses RTQ
• Writing client and server applications which use the RTQ API
• Configuring and using Automatic Throughput Optimization (ATO)
• Configuring and using Message Sensitive Routing (MSR)
• Load-balancing through the Balanced, Random, and Enhanced Routing algorithms
• Designing applications for peak performance
• Identifying common BEA TOP END performance problems
• Using tools to help tune a BEA TOP END system

PREREQUISITES:

• UNIX experience
• C programming experience (recommended)
• Introduction to BEA TOP END course (or equivalent experience)
